Grown-Up High School Talent Show

A community-first, online music sharing experience for adults who still feel that creative spark.

What This Is

The Grown Up High School Talent Show is a live, Zoom-based music sharing event designed to cut through the noise of social media and reconnect artists and listeners in a real, human way—together, in the same virtual room, at the same time.

Instead of algorithms, metrics, and endless scrolling, this night is about presence, nerves, courage, and community—the same feeling you might remember from standing on a high school stage for the first time, heart pounding, about to share something you made.

Except now… we’re grown.

There will be 30 artists total, and we will listen to every performance together as a group.

Each artist is welcome to invite anyone they’d like—friends, family, fans, or curious listeners—to join the room and be part of the experience.

This is a space to:

  • Share original music without chasing likes or followers

  • Experience the vulnerability of live performance in a supportive room

  • Rediscover why you started making art in the first place

  • Be seen and heard by real people, in real time—even online

The Spirit of the Night

This event intentionally recreates the emotional energy of a high school talent show—now translated into a shared Zoom room:

  • The nerves before you unmute

  • The quiet anticipation as the next name is called

  • The courage it takes to press “play” or perform live

  • The shared vulnerability between performer and audience

Only now, we bring life experience, depth, and community into the room with us.

No competition. No rankings. No clout.

Just people sharing what they’ve made.

Who It’s For

This event is for:

  • Songwriters and musicians of all levels

  • Bedroom producers and seasoned performers

  • People who’ve always wanted to share their music but never felt ready

  • Anyone who misses when music was shared in living rooms, basements, and small gatherings

You do not need to be a professional. You just need to be willing to show up and share.

What to Expect

  • Live on Zoom with all artists and guests in the same room

  • 30 total artists sharing one by one

  • Each artist has 3 minutes total to introduce themselves and share their song (intro + performance)

  • Everyone listens together—no separate rooms, no skipping ahead

  • A respectful, listening-focused audience

  • Supportive atmosphere—cheering in the chat, not judging

  • Intentional simplicity to keep the focus on the music

This is not a showcase for perfection. This is a showcase for honesty.

Why This Exists

Social media has turned music into content.

This night turns music back into a shared moment—even across screens.

Here, your song isn’t competing with thousands of others in a feed. It exists fully, in a room, with people who chose to be present with it at the same time.

Performer Guidelines

  • 30 artist cap for the event

  • 3 minutes per artist total to introduce yourself and share your song

  • Original music encouraged

  • You may perform live or play a recorded track

  • You are welcome to invite guests to watch

  • Show up as you are—polished or raw

  • Respect the vulnerability of other performers

This is a brave space. Handle it with care.

Audience Guidelines

  • Listen actively and respectfully

  • Mute during performances

  • Hold applause until the performer finishes, then celebrate in the chat

  • Keep the Zoom space positive and supportive

  • Remember: every person sharing is taking a real risk

The One Ask

This night only works if it’s reciprocal.

All we ask is that you come both to share and to listen.

If you’re performing, you’re also part of the audience. If you’re attending, your presence matters just as much as your applause.

We show up for each other. That’s the point.

The Feeling We’re Creating

Butterflies behind a webcam. Quiet Zoom rooms. Applause in the chat that feels earned. The kind of connection that only happens when people gather with intention—even online.

This is the Grown Up High School Talent Show.

Where the goal isn’t to go viral—

it’s to be real.
