All tracks were produced by Shannon McArthur, with the exception of “Slow Decay” (Danny LaCouture) and “Carve Your Heart Out Yourself” (Jonathan Michael Clark with Shannon McArthur).
My “big brother” in music, Shannon McArthur, found me at a weird point in my early career where I was still figuring out what I was going to do and make. He not only shot me straight about my content and gave me helpful strategies to advance my career; he also poured into me as a person. He became invested in helping me truly express what I had to say.
‘Getting There’ is for the boys who were told they weren’t tough enough, the girls who were told they weren’t pretty enough, the parents who were told they didn’t make enough money, and anyone else who has ever felt like they aren’t enough.
“I wrote ‘Reaching’ with my buddy, Shannon McArthur, back in March while I had a day off from tour in Nashville. When I got to the writing session, we were coming up with ideas and I mentioned that the imagination is getting lost due to everyone feeling the need to document their every move with a picture; life through a touch screen.

Instead of letting the struggle dominate and confuse him, McArthur instead decided to turn it into something beautiful. “That song is very largely about a struggle with God that I’ve experienced since my time in Nashville,” he has said.
McArthur aims to join listeners in wrestling with the big questions of a restless generation:
"How did we end up here? For what purpose?
We can choose to let questions like this weigh you down, or you can focus your thoughts into something beautiful that resonates with those in the same struggle."
